Traceability

Traceability and versioning in Moon is provided in a number of ways.

Sample status

You can keep track of the progression of the analysis of a sample with the Sample status. The Sample status is indicated on the Samples overview page and can be changed by using the drop-down menu next to the Reanalysis button on the Analysis screen. The Sample status can be changed at any moment depending on how the analysis proceeds:

  • Imported: This is the status of every newly imported sample, when no patient info is available yet.

  • Ready for analysis: This status is indicated after entering all necessary input data for analysis.

  • Queued for analysis/Analysing: This indicated the sample is currently being analysed.

  • Completed: The results are now ready for manual review.

  • Closed: When the analysis of a sample is completed, the sample can be closed. Depending on the result of the analysis, a sample can be closed as being solved, negative or VUS.

  • Analysis failed: This status indicates that the latest analysis of this sample failed.

The different tabs on top of the Samples overview screen allow you to only view a selection of samples based on the closed status.

Assigning samples

A sample can be assigned to a specific member of the lab, by using the Assigned to drop-down menu on the Samples overview screen. The assigned scientist can be changed at any moment. Assignment of a sample is recorded in the Sample logs.

Sample logs

For each sample, every action performed (eg. upload, entry of patient information, analysis, review of quality, failure of an analysis, digitally signing/authorising a report etc.), the name of the person performing the action and the date and time at which the action took place, are logged. The sample logs can be accessed via the drop-down menu next to the sample name on top of the screen.

Analysis versioning

For each genome build, Moon keeps track of the versions of databases that were used for each analysis performed. Clicking Annotation sources at the bottom of an analysis screen, shows you which database versions were used for the currently displayed analysis. For each sample, you can also see the versions of the used annotation sources for previous analyses.

Report versioning

Moon versions all reports that are created for each individual analysis of a sample. Also, digital approvals are saved for each analysis report.

Panel versioning

Moon keeps track of the versions of your gene panels, indicating which genes were added or removed as compared to the previous version. In the Filter view, Moon will always use the most recent panel version to filter on.

Applied filter sets

Moon keeps track of the Filter sets that are manually applied to the data of each sample, for each analysis. The selected Filter sets are automatically included in the report (Report tab and PDF report) of the analysis in question. Applied Filter sets and removal of Applied Filter sets from the Report are also tracked in the Sample logs.
